Ack! Says Extension not Supported.

Been using PT forever and love it (thanx!), BUT. Just installed the latest update (fresh install, then moved over my saved profile) and all seemed to go well, but when I started up the new one to test it out, it said that my SMTP ShowName extension, which saved my butt because I often have to "tweak" my smtp settings for numerous accounts) won't work with the new version---and prayerfully clicking on the "check for update" button yielded "no update available."

It's been so long since I first installed this that to my embarrassment I've forgotten the exact function, but I know that until I did, I couldn't set PT to use different SMTP servers for different accounts?

Any ideas? Thanx!

It's built in

You can setup multiple SMTP servers within account setup in the Outgoing Server section. And then each incoming account has an option right on its main screen for selecting the SMTP server for that account. The extension in question is only for 1.0 since it's not needed in 1.5.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I hate that it doesn't ask

I hate that it doesn't ask in setup. I have to set up SMTP separately if I don't want to use the same info as the default. Just my 2¢.

...

I think Mozilla removed it from the account setup wizard to avoid scaring off the computer newbies (all they're worried about these days is market share). I believe it was in there in 1.0.

Thanx!

AHA! That explains it---after I posted, I went to see how bad the damage was, and notice that each mail account still seemed to have it's proper smtp server (I'd copied over my old profile). So I thought "what the heck did I need that old extension for anyway?" :). Thank you for clearing that up.

Can I just take another minute to say thanx again for these wonderful apps? You've made my life much easier, are being so generous in the true spirit of the Net as it was (once?), and tight as money is (doing mostly charity work now), it was a pleasure to donate to the cause!
