This program takes up to 20MB RAM and does nothing.
I downloaded this to take in-game screenshots, I set the destination folder, JPG Format, and even changed the Hot key but it still can't take game screenshot.
I tried making a "window capture" =FAIL
"Area Capture"=FAIL
it only works for taking captures of web pages and windowed Apps and games, but when launching a Full Screen game it does nothing.
any help?
I have used it to great effect recently in taking screenshots of a product. That wasn't full screen though. But please don't call it "useless" - you've clearly indicated it's not useless, just that it doesn't work for a resolution-changing game. Using an inaccurate pejorative term doesn't help.
Have you tried another screenshot application? It's quite possible (in fact, I think I'll say probable) that it's the game itself which is stopping Lightscreen from taking pictures, by installing a keyboard hook which captures all events itself, not letting them ever get to Lightscreen, so it's never even realising you want a screenshot taken. Timed screenshots might be your only option.

Does the game use Direct X? Depending on how the screen capture works some applications cannot capture a Direct X painted display (i.e. games). Hoversnap is a freeware screen capture tool that can.
I'm not really a fan of Lightscreen either but it's certainly not without use (useless).
Don't some games hijack the keyboard and control the keypresses that are permitted to go through to the underlying OS?

I heard that FRAPS can take dx screenshots, are there plans to make FRAPS Portable ?

I'm sure this probably goes without saying but I'll say it anyway... are you sure the game you're trying to capture screens from doesn't already have a built-in feature to save screenshots? (many games do)
Is FRAPs open source? Taksi seems like an open source alternative, although it hasn't been updated in years (literally). I'm not really familiar with either program.
It doesn't have PrintScreen, trust me.
Is Google Chrome open source ?
Is Opera open source ?
Is Skype open source ?
Is µTorrent open source ?
Is Foxit Reader open source ?
Is Java open source ?
Is TeamViewer open source ?
no no no no no no and No!
My Point: it doesn't have to be OSS in order to make portable, you just need a permission for it.
It's about time we see FRAPS portable, more people will use it= more potential customers.

And you make it sound like "permission" is a God given right. All those apps didn't just magically happen, a lot of work goes into bringing them to PortableApps.com, probably more than you or I realize. Furthermore, just because you demand it, doesn't make it so.
Open Source apps still have the best chance* for inclusion in the PortableApps stable. That's not to say that any other licensed apps are to be excluded but the fact is that open source in unencumbered, which makes it a lot more convenient. The more people use open source apps the more potential "customers", the better for the open source movement in general.
*though still not God given
In short...
While your playing the game, do the following:
Print Screen (PrintScrn) -> Start Menu (Windows Key)-> All Programs -> Accessories -> Paint -> Ctrl + V -> Crtl + S -> Save it somewhere -> Alt + F4 -> Alt + Tab and play your game.
In long...
Press Print Screen while your playing your game, then press the windows key (if that doesn't work, press Alt and Tab) open up paint, and paste the screenshot.
Simple as that.
It doesn't work, that's why I'm looking for a software to do the job.

I managed to make PrintScreen work, I needed to mouse-click several times then click PrintScreen and it's saved to clipboard Yeah!
this is handy for taking screenshot of the scoreboard after the match ends, but for in'game moments I will need a software to automatically save the screenshots.
thanks for everyone's suggestions.

my solution finally worked!
About taking screenshots of the game as it happens, have you tried a screen recorder? I guess then you can take a screenshot of the screen when you want to and just save that... I don't know.
Here is CamStudio Portable though:

Sorry to point out the obvious but a lot of games these days come with built in screenshot capabilities.
Have you checked the settings for this?
