Lost Opera profile folder

Hello there!

It's not really a bug, but serve as example:
Yes, it's a bug.

When you download a program and you choose the option "open" instead of "save", the program will be downloaded and opened as it should be. But if you close Opera while the program is running, Opera Portable will not move your profile folder to "data", and your profile will be deleted.

I don't know if I was clear, my english is not good. Blum

Definitately a bug.

I was able to reproduce this in win7 x86 and x64 as well as XP. Thanks for letting us know I'm sure the developer of the app will get on that shortly.

Reproduced

Reproduced on Vista SP2 with latest Opera Portable. The entire profile's deleted, it's not in App\Opera\profile or Data\profile...

But there’s no sense crying over every mistake,
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

@JTH

Why not fix this with custom-code?
It seems to be that easy to fix that way,
and will give Chris more time to decide about a definite fix.

I'll be around in irc if you want to discuss it.

In the mean while I've made the fix for it with custom code

OperaPortable 10.63 development test 1.paf.exe [506KB download / 25MB full-install]
(MD5: 220dbde3a7e37efd38bd3b17f8dc2b03)

As Opera is freeware I took out the opera icons and the actual opera binaries. The installer preserves the app folder, deletes the profile folder and settings folder.

Just install this over the original OperaPortable, but beware all your settings will be lost. This is intended cause things got quite messed-up before.

Settings?

If it loses settings for all users, it's not a viable option.

Wouldn't it make far more sense to just check if there already is one in App\Opera (before we get to the move stuff) and just move that to Data so PA.c Launcher can then run as normal... rather than replacing stuff?

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Move the folder with

Move the folder with installer custum-code, from App\Opera\profiles to Data\profiles.

Basically I done it this way as I do not really know the app, so wasn't sure if it still would be 'portable'. The profile folder which is left in App\Opera due to the bug, is not coming from defaultdata, but entirely recreated by opera it self.

So I leave that decision up to you !

So ... Is it Fixed?

I noticed this issue right off the bat since way back when I first downloaded it.
I was too busy at the time to engage in any backtracking and experimenting to see if I had done anything wrong. So, I let it be at the time.

I'm glad other people have confirmed that it IS a Bug.

It SHOULD definitely have the functionality of the regular Opera.

So, is it fixed?
By the Download Button, I would guess that it ... isn't?
I don't see any Rev extension on it.
