Hi Chris,
Very glad to hear that it's ready for release.
I will implement your recommendations above. Should have that taken care of tomorrow night.
Thank you,

The changes were fairly minor so I ended up doing them right away instead of tomorrow. The latest .paf should reflect the changes you recommended. I have removed the splash screen.
Note: Even without the splash screen, the launcher seems to leave behind a background busy cursor (the arrow with the small hourglass). Is that a known issue with the launcher?
Thanks,

It comes down to Windows as it is controlling an hourglass after you launch an app. It'll generally disappear when the first window appears. With multi-exe apps it'll sometimes not realize that a window appears. The splash causes Windows to turn off the hourglass and think the app has launched. The hourglass should go away in a few (or several, can't recall) seconds regardless of whether a window appears.
Is the location of the download in this thread going to be a permanent one? If so, I think we can post this tomorrow.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense. I found the hourglass jarring so I reinstated the splash screen (a proper one this time).
Also, thanks for bringing up the download location. It wasn't where I wanted it permanently. I've edited the link above to its permanent home.
Looking forward to tomorrow

I noticed today that Finance Explorer Portable was released.
I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank everyone that helped make this possible by providing feedback and/or helping me through the processes of submitting my first PA.c app. Especially John Haller, Chris Morgan and horusofoz.
Thank you!

Congratulations on the release
Thanks for the props and hope you notice some nice download increases.

The current ini file in the Source directory is called "AppNamePortable.ini" and while I'm sure that's what you've been told, it isn't supposed to be literal.
The ini should be called "FinanceExporerPortable.ini" else the launcher won't see it when someone tries to make it active by moving it into the same directory as the launcher.

Thanks for the tip. I will update that.

I wouldn't worry about it to much.
Although it seems a bit cleaner, ChrisMorgan (the developer of PAL) recons it's the users responsibility.
So I do not think this minor issue justifies an update.

Thanks for letting me know. I've made a note of this and will update with the next release.

Don't change it now. If you make any changes to the file that you have posted, downloads will fail for anyone updating. And the MD5 won't match that on the page (making people suspicious). Make a note and adjust it in a later release.
When you do a later release, be sure to keep this current one available until we switch over. Just post the new release and drop us an email (developer contact in about us) and we'll make the new announcement.
And congrats on having your app up and thanks for making it portable with us

Good point. Hadn't thought about the MD5.
I'll make this change when I release the next version then.
Thanks for all the help with making my app portable. It had been on my to do for ages to integrate with PortableApps.com. Glad to be here

Read Other\Source\Readme.txt. At the moment that naming is intentional.
