I am new to Portable Apps & I have tried to update Google Chrome to 8.0.552.215. All I get is a message saying that there has been a server failure. Is this normal with the portable Chrome?
How do I update?

You update by downloading a newer version of Google Chrome Portable from PortableApps.com, when it's available. Currently, PA offers 8.0.552.200 (it is a beta of GC, btw). Just wait until 8.0.552.215 is released.
You shouldn't use the app's built-in updater, that applies to most PA apps. That is if you want them to remain portable. For further reading, search the forums, as it's been discussed before.
If you want to have automatic updates of your portable applications, you might want to download PortableApps Platform 2 beta 5, which has a proper updater.

@dboki89, OK, thanks for the information. How do I keep my profile & all of my settings when I download a new upgrade?
When you update your applications using the PortableApps.com Updater (or just the apps' new installer), you profile and settings will be untouched.
Its magic, I know.
OK thanks.
Make sure you don't delete the version you have or your settings will be deleted. Just update as normal.
