I've just posted a pre-release of FileZilla Portable 2.2.26a and need some folks to test it out quickly so I can release it today. This new release features the following changes:
Live CD & Read-Only USB Support - FileZilla Portable now fully supports running from a CD or from a USB flash drive set to read-only mode. For CD use, just burn a copy once you've run it and configured it to your liking. There is an INI option to avoid backups that will prevent the write protection errors from showing up in read-only mode. Just be sure to run it once to setup a default settings file.
In-Place Upgrades - FileZilla Portable now supports the ability to do what I'm calling an "in-place upgrade". This means that you can extract it right over an existing installation of FileZilla Portable without losing any of your existing data and it'll Just Work (tm). Obviously, this will be going forward as you'll need to manually upgrade this time due to the new directory layout.
WINE Support - The new launcher has been written and tested to work with Wine within your favorite UNIX/Linux distro. You can install, configure and use FileZilla Portable within Wine without issue.
Grab the self-extractor here:
UPDATE: Had some colleagues do some testing, so this has been released:

Please give the new features a try and drop a note back ASAP with your thoughts.
Thanks,
John
I use FileZilla all the time. Is it really that much different from the previous release? (FZ itself, not the launcher)
I like the in-place upgrade idea. Not quite the auto-update of Fx and TB, but it helps.
Vintage!
You should definitely upgrade.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
