How to manage the portable applications effectively?

Greetings,

Use the portable apps since 2009. and really I'm a happy user! It becomes mine habit means I always try to find the portable version for any software. So the software increase as time goes on. I have to think how to manage so many applications in a single portableapps effectively.

Maybe it's a good idea to add new ability that can set the categories and drop the each software to its own category. So that the software can be located with ease!

Is anyone agree with me? Or other ideas?

Thanks!
ED

I'm feeling slow but ...

Hi, could you point me to some of those referenced threads discussing categories or even just re-arranging the order the apps appear in the list? I tried to search for them but can't find anything.
Thanks

Beta

There is currently a 2.0 version of the menu in beta that you can use.

You can favorite, rename, hide, and update apps, among other features. Folder/Category support is currently being worked on. The 2.0 menu is scheduled to officially release by the end of the month

Rename Features helps

I find that the rename helps somewhat to organize apps by prepending the app name with the category. For example, I'll rename "Firefox Portable" to "Internet: Firefox". This way when the menu sorts them out, it puts all the Internet apps together. I also drop the "Portable" from the name as I already know it's portable.
