Looking for Portable Search Engine

Hi all,

I have a portable USB Drive with tons of documents (text, PDF, MS Office) on it. Is there a portable app that buils a search index over the portable drive and has an interface to search that index? Preferred app would open PortableFirefox and displays the search result in the Browser, but any other user interface is fine, too.

Does this exist?

Thanks for Help

Martin

PStart

Pstart has a built in search engine that searches the computer's start menu and pstart menu. It displays the search results collor coded. you still have to have your documents in pstart but it can speed up your work

QuickSearcher is a file search tool. Decided superiority is Preview for text search (as well as preview for graphical files), ability to search within several folders (multi directory search) or within search results, setting favorite search folders and of course, ability to save that search results. Another useful feature is searching within some archive files (ZIP for example) and searching for MS Office documents and MP3 (you just should specify artist or composition name). And finally QuickSearcher has a handy system integration and beautiful interface.

All settings are written to an ini file in the program's directory.

An extremly small, very fast and easy to use media cataloging tool. You can use it to index files stored on removable media (CD-ROMs, LS120, Iomega Zip and Jaz disks, or even diskettes), hard disks or net drives, and create searchable catalogs that can be used without having access to original media. Searching capabilities are based on file name, date and size. Additional features include filtering options, search duplicates or singles, customizable date format, etc. Found files can be opened (executed) or deleted directly, if they are present. Drag&drop support. Directory trees, MP3 album/song lists can be printed, disk space usage can be investigated. Single file executable, no install needed.
