Funds raising Idea? USB STICKS?

This is just an idea .....but as a fund raising idea what about getting USB sticks
from a major manufacture.... No junk...good quality 4-8-16? gig sticks and installing the platform, and maybe having a folder with all the currant apps in it.
If the sticks could be custom made...even maybe to look like the icon that would be cool also.
I would pay a premium price for this knowing that the extra money would go to R&D for PortableApps.com.

Just my idea to help.

Keep up the great work... PortableApps.co RULES !!!

Thank you for your time.

it may be possible

if somebody would step up to front the cost im sure that John would make some sort of deal.

heck PA would be a stunning upgrade from the normal [redacted] they have on sticks now a days.

Future

I believe John has made a comment regarding the future of something like this... Personally I think a drive made to look like the one in the splash screens would be sweet.

There is no way that the drive would contain every app released. My guess is when the updater gets released and has the option built in to add apps, is when the feasibility of this may actually come around.

Yes

he says something about fundraising with branded drives in his latest Update.

Um,

he says that there will be a Donation Drive, but he didn't say anything about Branded FlashDrives.
Note that there has been a PortableApps.com Branded FlashDrive sale once before, and thus I brought it up Here, but nothing official has been said about this happening again.
(though I really hope it does, as I missed last time, and Really want one)

Promotoional

There's been 2 PA.c promotional drives given away. One at OSCON 2009 and one at CES 2010. Both were very similar with just a difference in the activity indicator. There has not yet been a PA.c branded drive for sale.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Oh, OK

If there was no sale, that explains why I didn't know about it when it happened and buy one (because it never happened) but I was correct that PA.c branded drives exist, and that I Really want one, and I (and others) would be willing to buy one (more than one? maybe.)

So, now the question, will PortableApps.com branded FlashDrives be available? (as part of the Donation Drive or otherwise?)
I really hope so, I generally don't get to go to things like OSCON and CES Sad So unless they're made available elsewhere I'll probably never get one ☹ Sad ☹.

Funds raising ideas.

Hello again everyone,

Don't get me wrong.... I would paypal a donation direct....but lets face it.
Most of us are gadget freaks and love to get something cool.

I have seen the posts about mouse pads, tee-shirts, stickers and even portable hard drives. This would also be a cool way to do the donation drive as you could give everyone a different level of donation.

The biggest problem with this is the first start-up costs with getting things made or designed. Sad

Every $ helps... some people might be able to part with only $5.00 for a sticker or something.

Others.. could and would give $150.00 for a 320 gig 2.5 inch hard drive.

Still others could always give by PayPal

As far as ALL the apps on a usb stick or even a hard drive...I see now that would never work.. in 24 hours you would have outdated app list... every day a new app rules.

Put my vote in for a "Donation Drive Info forum" so we can keep up to date on this.

Lets keep this thread going... the more talk about this donation drive the better it can work.

If there is any ideas I can work on from Europe.. The Netherlands Please let me know what I can do to help.

As always.... PortableApps RULE!!

I would quite happily pay for

I would quite happily pay for a branded USB, or three. I have three USB drives in use almost every day, and would love to have PA branded ones, especially 8 or 16Gb. Wouldn't say no to a mousepad either.

My choices

While it seems odd for middle-aged man to say, I'd love stickers, so that I could plaster them on portable HDDs, wrap them on smooth USB sticks, and slap on laptops. Way more visibility than many of the other ideas too, although I'm not against them either, especially USB sticks. What about portable drive CASES, and people could put any drive in them? Or to technical?

I am not my signature.

It takes about 20 minutes

and $0 to set up a CafePress store that can provide branded t-shirts, stickers, hats, mouse pads, all kinds of swag. They don't have cases or lanyards, tho, and definitely no drives, but for the amount of effort you have to put out, this seems like a no-brainer way to bring in $$$. All you really need to supply is the graphic.

I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
