I noticed that if I start the StartPortableApps.exe as Administrator and then attempt to run Google Chrome, it hangs up when attempting to initialize the GMail and Google Calendar extensions.

StartPortableApps.exe and the PortableApps.com Platform should not be 'started as admin'. Running something in admin mode has specific consequences and the platform and most apps are not designed for them.
