I really like Firefox (especially the portable version). But the integrated Downloadmanager is awful (I am sure you know what I am talking about).
I already tried DownThemAll, but I think it is not possible to manage it as the standard Downloader. You always have to right-click on the file and choose DTA.
Flashgot is also a nice extension, but useless for portable FF. Because you have to install an external Downloadmanager(which is not portable).
Download Manager Tweak sometimes makes problems downloading more than 1 file at the same time.
DTA would be the perfect downloadmanager if it could be really integrated in FF as the standard downloader.
So my question is:
How do you download files with portableFF. I dont want to install an external downloadmanger.
What's wrong with the integrated download manager within Firefox. It works just fine.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Sometimes the downloaded files are corrupt and it doesnt always supports to resume downloading.
I agree, the integrated download manager NEVER seems to be able to resume after a restart of FF.
But using DTA means only ONE click more to do! I assume, to do a download with just one click on the download link cannot be done without a fully installed download manager. Perhaps even an extension cannot be integrated that way , or it would have been done already, I think.
Personally, I really started to like DTA a lot after a while. I also keep having the impression it's faster than other download managers (but maybe I was just using some exceptionally fast download links lately).
I've never actually paused a download between Firefox sessions. Come to think of it, I've never even paused ANY download.

Yes, you are right. At the moment DTA is the best solution.
I wish that it could completly replace the integrated downloadmanger
that DTA integrates nicely into Firefox. If you configure it properly, it runs along side the built in download manager and adds no more than 1 extra click. It also alows queuing of multiple downloads when John releases all those apps at one time.

John, if you got a reliable and fast connection you probably won't ever need any download manager anyway. But you could still try and test whether this DTA thingy does not make your downloads quite a bit faster. Just like most versatile download managers it splits up the download in segments (which can be seen when you hover with the mouse over the download window). But I always have the impression that "Down Them All" is still a bit faster than the others. Though, with a very fast connection you perhaps wont notice much of a difference.
hi!
I use WellGet, with the FlashGot (Firefox) extension!
it works well, but have a bug.
at batch download it doesn't use the login/password for all files, only for the first one
Its an external download manager but you can 'link it' to firefox using an extension...

WackGet is a download manager for Windows. It maintains a queue of files and downloads them (using wget) in the order you specify.
* Select part of a webpage, paste into WackGet and watch as it finds all the downloads automatically!
* Add downloads from Firefox using the DownloadWith extension
WackGet is a minimalist application. It doesn't tax system resources, doesn't require a lot of screen real estate, and doesn't include extraneous features. It's free, ad-free, and is lovingly developed and maintained by the hip people at Millweed.com.
WackGet is open-source software released under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
