Windows 7

I know that there are programs you have made for this inquiry but i find this more suitable. What if instead of us having to click the exe program every time we log on to our computers, you guys actually make a installable program that will make a task in the scheduled tasks list so that when we log on or when our computers start up we don't have to do anything besides insert the drive?

PortableApps.com Autoplay Test 1

Try John T. Haller's PortableApps.com autoplay.

Please note that this is NOT recommended, as virus' can still be injected onto your drive and consequently autorun using this tool.

The ONLY recommended method of starting the platform is to click on StartPortsbleApps.exe

Why not?

There has never been any note that it is not recommended. It just runs StartPortableApps.exe; thus it's just as safe as running it manually.

Doesn't it run whatever is listed in autorun.inf? That is what I was referring to..

No

It's specifically StartPortableApps.exe. It is not "AutoRun/AutoPlay", it is "PortableApps.com AutoRun/AutoPlay".

Yes

I think Chris is right here. It checks the exe it runs before it runs it.

This isn't what i asked

i asked if there was a program that you can install and it would create a task in the scheduled tasks menu so that every time i log on to my computer it starts automatically without interaction....so that i dont have to do anything....please respond and i would prefer John T. Haller

I'm going to respond anyway

From your original post:

What if instead of us having to click the exe program every time we log on to our computers, you guys actually make a installable program that will make a task in the scheduled tasks list so that when we log on or when our computers start up we don't have to do anything besides insert the drive?

If you are asking for an installable program that makes a task in scheduled tasks, it's safe to assume that you are always starting the apps from your own computer.
(Since that type of program can't be portable, and you wouldn't install an app on somebody else's computer).
We can also assume that you run your PortableApps off of a removable drive.

It's very easy to set up your computer to start any program when you log in. It doesn't require a scheduled task, you can just drop a shortcut into the Startup folder, or put an entry in the Run key in the registry. If you are always using the same computer, the drive letter should always be the same, which is good, because neither of these ways nor a scheduled task can deal with this otherwise.
So long as the drive is plugged in, it should start the platform automatically when you log in.
The snag in this method is, what happens when you start the computer without the drive plugged in? Well, it will either do nothing, or generate an error message. If you then plug your drive in after you've logged in, it won't autostart the platform, unless you also use the suggestions above.

So, if you are going to always have the drive plugged in, just create a shortcut to X:\StartPortableApps.exe (where X is the drive letter) and place it in the Programs\Startup folder of your Start Menu.
It will then start up every time you log in.
I hope this is what you are looking for.

I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.

This is not exactly what you

This is not exactly what you are asking for, but it may do the trick (sorry if not). What about just creating a shortcut to StartPortableApps.exe in the Windows startup folder.

It amazes me that on the internet you can be anything you want, and yet so many people still choose to be idiots.
