I tried to restore my profile on a portable version with FEBE (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/febe/) and it seems to fail. Do you ever encounter this issue ?

Its probably the script timing out, look at the developers site for febe & you'll find a link to instructions just above the version history ... allows you to extend script runtime by delving into about:config and modiying value for dom.max_chrome_script_run_time .... have increased it to 60 and it works better for me, especially on flash drives ... no longer get script is busy warning
