Submitting False Positives

As mentioned here: https://portableapps.com/node/15583#comment-171616

Here is a list of AV companies, and how to contact them.
"email sent" indicates I have sent them an email asking for instructions on how to submit a FP.

nothing after the AV name indicates I haven't gotten to that one yet.

If anyone else comes across any more, I'll add them to this list.

Instructions: McAfee, MSSE

McAfee: email to virus_research@avertlabs.com with FALSE in the subject, and the "On Access / On Demand Scan log files of the McAfee product along with the DAT and engine versions in use at the time", including "any other relevant information regarding why you think that the file has been incorrectly detected".
More Detailed documentation HERE: http://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB67411

Microsoft Security Essentials: http://microsoft.com/security/portal/Submission/Submit.aspx
Choose Microsoft Security Essentials from the "Product" list, and make sure to check the box which says "I believe this file should not be detected as malware", or they will assume that you are submitting known malware/virus files.

It seems to me that some of these are a little complex (like eSafe) to have full information for all of them on one page, so I'd like to suggest that any that aren't simply a form on a webpage where you fill in some info and upload the falsely accused file should instead be a link to a separate page with AV specific instructions like This Page for McAfee.

Why?

Why create a new thread, when you could have provided that info back to Chris Morgan, and ask him to update the "original" page for false positive reports? Double the work with no extra gain...

Look at this --> https://portableapps.com/node/21968

My posts are old and likely no longer relevant.

Knowledge is Power

I'm guessing he didn't know about it. (I know I didn't know about it :()

Combine Efforts.

we must all be pulling the same strings, there should be One thread about FP and made Sticky.

1'st rule of every forum: search before you post.

Sometimes making love is just not enough, you have to step it up!
