Chrome installer proxy

Minor bug report.

The Google Chrome online installer (tested version 10.0.648.133) does not seem to be able to access through a proxy and therefore cannot get online to install in my environment.

I have downloaded the standalone chrome installer but have not yet found out how this can be used to bypass the download step.

Put them in the same folder

Just put that "standalone", or local Google Chrome installer next to your Google Chrome Portable installer, and it should be used automatically. This is the case with all official online installers from PortableApps.

Progress, but still broken.

I downloaded a copy of ChromeStandaloneSetup.exe, file version 1.2.183.29 digitally signed by Google Inc at 11 March 2011 06:53:51.

My installation process now halts with the following alert windows:

Google Chrome Portable | PortableApps.com Installer

The downloaded copy of Google Chrome (Stable) is not valid and can not be installed. Please try installing again.
[OK]
The installer was unable to download Google chrome (Stable). The installation of the portable app will be incomplete without it. Please try installing again. (ERROR: OK)

Sorry, not "standalone"

Sorry, I didn't understand what you meant by "standalone"... Portable Chrome uses a regular version of Chrome and makes it portable. Not the standalone. Download this installer and place it next to your Google Chrome Portable installer (for version 10.0.648.133):

http://dl.google.com/chrome/install/648.133/chrome_installer.exe
(md5: 7e71943af0c98ca2275e0bc886845a97)

If you want to download them manually in the future, just replace the ending version number:
http://dl.google.com/chrome/install/xxx.xxx/chrome_installer.exe
