Running an exe file from PFF

I'm building a help and installation CD that will use a local PFF and as part of the process of installing applications I need to execute an exe file. When linking to an exe file I only get the option of saving it when I need to Run it.
What is the trick to enabling the Run for an executable and can I script that so the newbie users don't even see the Run/Save dialog?

There will be no Internet access and it will be a fully closed system so we should be able to relax the security settings.

This needs an extension

for normal Firefox and Firefox Portable.

That looks like it might work. Have to see if it will work from a CD though.
