Are you saying that you need a password to run the application? I would suggest checking the properties window for the app, and seeing if there's anything there.
Are you storing it on your flash drive or some local or network drive at the school. If you're storing it on a local or network drive, the IT guys may have discovered it and locked you out. Be careful what you store on those drives.
Also, has it always done this? If it used to run without a password, it's definitely the IT guys.
I would also suggest copying the profile, deleting the app and all its files, reinstalling it, and pasting back in the profile.

My use of Google indicates that I am insane.
He may mean the connection, which would mean that the firewall is being selective and allowing Firefox but disallowing Opera and Chrome by default. I've seen that case before.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Isn't the password usually just to get an internet connection? It's usually done via a special app, not the web browser. One of the WiFi networks at my school redirects my homepage to a log-in web page (that uses an invalid, self-signed certificate that Firefox hates). It's the same on any web browser.
