VisualCD is a free disk catalog program. It stores it's catalogs as one file per disk, but you can search multiple files. At first glance, it appears to store all its settings in an ini file, so it should be portable. It's what I'm considering using for cataloging all my CD/DVDs and HDDs to be able to search them when not at home, etc. Get it from http://boozet.xepher.net/viscd/index.htm

Hi there,
I just installed VisualCD on my PC and copied the files to my USB-stick.
All you have to do (at least for me the only error-message that popped up)
is to copy the file VISCDRTL.DLL to your VisualCD folder on your USB-stick.
You can find the file in your C:\Windows\systems32 folder

This program seems to be nearly portable. My problems are the 3 paths (common paths) to save, copy and open the catalogues. They arent stored in the program folder by default.
I dont know how to set the paths in the .ini so that they are stored in the program folder. Could you maybe help me?
I have tried a program called Disclib. It has a few issues running as a portable app , but over all I am happy with it.
