I'm looking into the Sandisk line of USB drives, maybe the Titanium or whatever it's called.. but I've read reviews on the U3 program being annoying/hard to remove.
Is this true, and if so.. is there a way to completely remove it to where it's an empty USB drive like others you buy?
Thanks in advance for the help..
I recently bought the 2 GB Micro. I really wasn't interested in the U3 software and my plan all along was to remove it.
You heard right about the U3 software being an annoyance. Luckily, Sandisk provides a utility to remove the U3. The U3 Launchpad Removal Tool can be downloaded from this site: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1415
In my case, the U3 was not compatible with my system and it wasn't even recognized. Since it wasn't recognized, I could not remove it right away. However, I took it to my friend's computer and was able to load it and remove it.
After that, no problems. I really like the drive. It is small and fits nicely in my key chain. Speedwise it's probably not the fastest drive, but spped for my is not a big issue. I also own a 512 MB micro, and it has served me well for over a year.
