The USB Speed is too Slow!

I can't stand how Firefox portable freezes. Drives me crazy. I think I am going to go wit this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?Edp... for an alternative. Has to be smoother/faster.

Not too bad

Looks pretty good. About the size of a credit card. Will probably perform better than all but the most expensive thumb drives (like Super Talent SuperCrypt, or LaCie FastKey).

Hard drives aren't as durable as thumb drives - especially 1.8 inch drives in my experience (which I think must be what is in this) - I strongly recommend frequent backups. Nothing worse than losing all your apps when you put your drive through the wash.

FWIW

FWIW: Tom's Hardware recently did a review on nine high-performance USB flash drives, some of which are in thumb drive format.

For Portable Apps, pay special attention to Small File Read/Write Benchmarks. Typical thumb drives have small file write speeds between 0.05 MB/s and 0.5 MB/s. Speeds that slow really kill performance on apps like Firefox and Thunderbird, which do lots of small writes.

It is not just as easy.

It is not just as easy. Portable hdds may have better transferrates with large files, but sometimes suck with smaller files, especially when file seek is taken into account.
I regularily use a 1.8" transcend portable hdd and its performance is ok but not stellar. It is definitly better than the average low cost flash drive but lacks in some points (like deleting large numbers of small files - have a cup of tea ready for that, especially if you forget to hold the shift key and have to clear the recycle bin). Overall in day to day use, I "feel" no real difference to my 16GB Transcend flash drive (that has better access rates but lower top write speeds).

As your link shows a 2.5" drive, performance may be a litte bit better, but at the cost of size and power consuption (some usb ports just don't provide enough power).
