Help, it renamed my drive.

Hoping someone can help me out with this as it is a real pain.

Been using standalone portable apps for years, however thought i would try the new platform updater. What a nightmare !!!

It has renamed my USB SSD to "PortableApps.com" and I can't change it back. I have deleted the files for the platform updater and restored a backup to the drive but I still cannot get back to normal.

The drive label is unchanged ( checked via Drive Properties ) so it must have changed something on my system Registry or installed a hidden program maybe.

I am using Windows 7 if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.

AutoRun.inf

There is a hidden file called AutoRun.inf in the root of the drive. It's used (currently) to set a icon and a label for the drive. Just delete it.

Previously known as kAlug.

Eject / Reboot

It's also important to remember that Windows will keep the autorun.inf label even after you delete it. It'll do so until you eject and reinsert a drive or reboot the computer (or logoff/on I think).

Also, you can rename it from the platform by clicking on the name of it in the lower left of the PA.c Menu right near the free space indicator.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Just run the PortableApps.com

Just run the PortableApps.com Platform and rename the drive by clicking on the Drive's label at the bottom left.
