Possible but not over easy

A few years ago when I had U3-sticks I installed the portableapps platform. And after that I installed the portableapps applications I wanted to have.

The U3 platform starts after plugging in the USB-stick and then you have to start the portableapps platform (which shows the installed applications). On closing you have to close the installed portableapps, then the portableapps platform (not ejecting!), and finally close U3 platform. I hope it still works that way.

Unless you need U3 because you have an application that isnt available otherwise, you shouldnt use U3 because it is outdated and out of development.

And no, the Portableapps.com Menu or applications cant be used interchangeably with the U3 platform. Some applications can be installed on both but they have different formats and file/folder layouts so you cant use one installation on both of them.
Of course you can use them both next to each other.

null?

Do you mean a clean/empty/new usb stick?
U3 only runs on special sticks with special hardware. PortableApps.com runs on everything which you can plug into a PC if it has a drive letter (=it shows up in explorer).

Yes

I have a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 4 GB and it has U3. It is a bit older though. Just google for "U3 installer sandsisk" and you'll find it.
Your stick might be a newer version without U3 support - I dont know.

Some older portableapps work from Cds but most newer ones wont. You_ll have to check for each apps support page to be sure.

And I didnt get you second last question.

U3 = Special; PA.c = Anywhere

U3 software needs an U3-enabled device to run. PortableApps.com apps can run in any drive.

Most of the recently-released apps here use the PortableApps.com Launcher, that have a “Live mode” to run in a read-only way, such as from a CD.
