a few apps i'd like

hmm howbout tor and privoxy? i saw "torpark" but... i dunno, comes with its own ver of mozilla and i dunno seems like its only for webbrowsing not for *everything* then agian im sure i can edit the configs for privoxy and tor as u see fit
but id just rather see it work like the regular tor/privoxy vidalia package, u kno?

i was gonna say Xchat or some other IRC program but mozilla's chatzilla will suffice, and god kno's we dont want to waste space with uneeded crap, hmm i signed up with the intent to have a realy big list but now that im forced to write im at a loss i droped utorrent on my ipod also and it works fine, great that its just a single binary, and putty, pscp psftp and winscp i have all in my putty dir Wink gotta love those single binary,

oh well now that i got an account ill get back to u guys when a great idea strike, and ps portableapps.com is teh greatest site ever!

maybe a CD burner that can handle all kinds of special media like iso's bin/cue since windows cant handle those alone, that'd be a tough feat though, but i dont kno i installed this burner and its good for me http://www.cdburnerxp.se

oh yeah also CYGWIN?!

Tor and privoxy for windows

Tor and privoxy for windows are easy.

tor.exe by itself runs in default configuration, it does not even need any other file. Just copy tor.exe somewhere and start it, for example by batch: start /min "" "\tor.exe"

Privoxy needs to be configured to use socks-server localhost on port 9050. You need to copy the whole installation-directory to the USB-stick, or else it will not work.

Start that too and you have a working tor/privoxy on any PC. That is the way I run it. The only thing I do not like is that privoxy always show its tray-icon. So far I found not way to turn that off.

Just to make the description complete: To use tor and privoxy you have to configure your browser to use the HTTP-proxy on localhost port 8118. Test with any website that shows you your own IP, like http://www.whatismyip.com/.

Torbase & Cygwin

Someone posted about Torbase a while back. Might be something you could use.

Someone has posted about Cygwin, also.
