When I move the ThunderbirdPortable folder, it automatically sets the path and everything works great. However this is not the case with all the portable apps.
Can this be made a part of the portable apps standard so all apps are supported ?

Most our apps work this way. The few that don't are being updated to support it but as we have hundreds of apps, it takes time. New apps are required to support path portability unless they can't for a technical reason (see uTorrent, for example).
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
