Antivirus tip

If you keep getting false positives with free antivirus, then just signup for the free AOL and use their McAfee AntiVirus.

...

Nice suggestion but I would never have suggested that to anyone. I hate AOL and everything they do. I use GAIM to talk to aol people as they do not MSN or Yahoo. I had AOHell and once I got rid of them I never will do any business with them. If you want to do something like this, go to Google and get the 6 month NAV until you find smoething else. I personally use and recommend AVG. Today was the first false positive that I have encountered in the 6 years that I have used there products.

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you do or say will be exaggerated or mis-quoted and used against you.

IMHO

AOL sucks, and McAfee sucks even more. NAV has gotten way too bloated, but is still better than McAfee. Of course this is just what I think.

Above all else I say use what works for you(as long as it does it's job).

Kaspersky and ClamWin

Kaspersky is my AV of choice for an on-access scanner for Windows (definitions updated more often than anyone else, very low false positives - never with portable apps, solid detection rates, low resource usage). ClamWin is pretty solid as an on-demand scanner and I have several colleagues that use it for incoming mail on servers.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Free online scans

For those who do not want to buy the likes of Kaspersky or MicroTrends etc. they also provide free online scans. Although you are not constantly protected it is peace of mind if you check every now and then, even if you have free virus scanners as with the likes of Avast, AVG and ClamWin etc.
