example:
go to https://vaadin.com/chat, there is a standard "join chat" skype link, which is supposed to be handled by Skype. When SkypePortable is not started, and I click the link, SkypePortable starts, but no chatroom is opened. When it's already started and I click the link, it gives me a warning: "Another instance is running...".
I didn't find any function in Skype itself, which would allow me to open chatroom.
You're associating the link in your browser and telling it to open SkypePortable.exe, right? If so, then yes that error is the launcher. Try using this launcher instead and let me know if that works for you.

Hi John,
I'm afraid there is no change, whether I use original SkypePortable.exe or the one you provided. It behaves the same, as I first described...
In the browser, what are you setting to open with? Skype.exe or SkypePortable.exe?

sure, my browser is set up to run SkypePortable.exe directly.
What was the exact error you saw with my modified launcher replacing yours? Could you screenshot it? I think Skype may have issues with secondary launches when in portable mode.

there is no error, it just behaves the same way.
see my original description, to re-phrase it:
- when SkypePortable is opened, clicking on that link will result in a warning "Another instance of SkypePortable is already running"
- when nothing is opened, clicking on that link will just open SkypePortable (but not the desired chatroom...)
or maybe I'm terribly missing something?
I just enabled the pass-through in the launcher and it seems that Skype doesn't support passing in a URI while in portable mode. It simply ignores the passed-in parameter when you're specifying where Skype stores its data. You'd have to ask them to enable it.

hmm, nevermind that then, it's not that important, I just though I'm doing something wrong, or there is an easy way out,
thanks for help John
