Cannot get Apache Running in XAMPP installation on USB

Hello!

[1] I Installed the XAMPP folder (from the xampp-win32-1.7.7-VC9 folder after unzipping it) to the root of the USB stick. The path appears as:
E:\xampp

[2] I installed the XAMPP Launcher 1.5 so that it appears in the list of Portable Apps Applications.

[1] Also, the XAMPP Launcher 1.5 file is located in this path:
E:\PortableApps\XAMPP\XAMPPLauncher.exe

[4] The Laucher opens with no problem from the Apps list when clicked on.

[5] PROBLEM: After clicking on the Apache "start" button in the Control Panel Application, I see in the window below that Apache has started but the "Running" notice to the left does not appear. However, after clicking on the MySQL "start" button, the "Running" notice appears right away.

QUESTION
What am I doing wrong and how do I correct the problem.

Thank you in advance,

SC

The last time I saw that

The last time I saw that happen in my own installation, it was on a PC that had port 80 already in use, but there could be other issues causing this effect as well.

Check out this guide to diagnose/fix the two most common causes for Xampp apache not starting.

Hello!

Thank you for your help!

It was Skype that was causing the problem.

Now I cannot get FileZilla, Mercury (What ever that does) and Tomcat working. But that is for another day.

Apache and MySQL are working.

Thanks again.

Glad I could help

Glad I could help you out.

Can't really help you with the other bits as I only ever use Apache and MySQL and have never even started FileZilla server, Mercury (which is a mail server I believe) or Tomcat, but I'm sure there are others here who can help with those aspects of Xampp.
