I recognized that Firefox Sync is not working.
If I set up sync to an existing account and restart Firefox, then all sync settings are gone.
In the Firefox menu (the orange Firefox button) there is "Setup Sync" instead of "Sync now".
I had Firefox 8 installed version (not the portable version).
There I set up Firefox sync to sync my bookmarks between my private PC, my work PC and my Android phone.
Everything worked perfectly.
Then I downloaded Firefox 8.0.1 portable and set up some Add-Ons (not the Sync, I was still testing the portable version).
After some time Firefox portable was updated by the PAP to 9.0 and some days later to 9.0.1.
Here I suddenly had Firefox in English language (instead of German language) but I downloaded Firefox 9.0.1 portable again (from the web site) and installed it manually (see https://portableapps.com/node/30305).
After setting up all Add-Ons in the portable version, I opened Firefox 8 (non portable), synced all bookmarks and uninstalled Firefox 8 (I selected to remove all settings).
Then I opened Firefox 9.0.1 portable, set up Sync (selected that I have lost the other device and Firefox generated a new Sync key for me).
After that all bookmarks are downloaded to the portable version.
I also uninstalled Firefox on my work PC.
So I just have Firefox portable with all my bookmarks and all my Add-Ons.
Exactly what I need.
But each time I start Firefox portable, there is "Setup Sync" in the Firefox menu (the orange Firefox button) instead of Sync now.
If I set up sync (like described above) then I see "Sync now" in that menu.
But after restarting Firefox I see again "Setup Sync".
What is wrong?
What can I do to set up sync forever?

I am also experiencing issues with Firefox Sync - fresh installation of Firefox Portable 9.01.
I installed my addons, paired Firefox Sync with my account and let it sync.
Bookmarks synced, but passwords, preferences, history and tabs have not.
There is an error at the bottom of the screen after sync is run: "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Firefox Sync server maintenance is underway, syncing will resume automatically.. Sync will automatically retry this action." and then a button for "Server Status"
However, when I click the button for Server Status, Mozilla says there is no ongoing maintenance or anything like that.
This is the only piece upsetting a near-flawless Portable Firefox installation! Help?
Seems to be working today... All I did was update Firefox Portable 9.0 to 10.0 when Firefox asked to update itself (not the recommended way of updating)
I'm going to install the latest Firefox Portable and see if it still works...
I updated to version 10 from version 9.01 on both the portable and local installation of Firefox. I had to download the full installation file for the local install as the built in updater did not seem to work. The portable installations were updated by downloading the installation files from this site and running it through the Portable Apps menu. Afterwards the first sync seemed to take a lot longer than usual, but seems to be fine after that. This makes me wonder if something changed for the sync function or the profile. I looked in the release notes but did not see anything to explain this, unless it was there and I did not recognize it.
