at my school, i cannot run apps from removable media. anyone know how to get around this?

Do you get any error messages at all?
Do you see any activity from your removeable device?
If you run the task manager (assuming you can), can you see the launcher starting up at all?
What about anti-virus software - I've had trouble with the uni labs Sophos antivirus picking up certain legal programs as potentially unwanted stuff and just blocking it.

I get an error message saying that launching applications from portable media is not allowed (i'll try and grab the exact text later today). we have eTrust anti-virus. task manager is also blocked by sysadmin.
Could you be a bit more specific?
