Solitaire Mahjong Portable 1.3.1 Development Test 1

Application: Solitaire Mahjong
Category: Games
License: GPL 2+
Description: Solitaire Mahjong (...) is a solitaire (one player) version of the classic Eastern tile game, Mahjong. It has all the functionality you expect from a tile or card game. (from website)

The base app is rather old and has not been updated since 2008. But it works well on my XP machnine. Testing on Vista/Win7 is needed to see if it runs on any newer OS.

Win7 64 bit

Runs well, nothing left behind. Great program with good graphics! Nice edition to the games section!

Curious I just played some more I see how you nicely handled the registry. Is that where the high scores are kept? I did not regshot it on the second and third play so an curious where that is held?

Yes. It keeps all settings

Yes. It keeps all settings bundled in a registry subtree. I was suprised how easy it was to portablize (thanks the launcher). I think, all dependencies came bundled already and are selfcontained (minigw and Qt). I'll try it on a somewhat stripped down computer the next week.

wondering

Was just playing game and decided to save a game

These files wwere added
C:\Users\Aztec\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\mygame.ssm.lnk

C:\Documents and Settings\Aztec\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\mygame.ssm.lnk

BTW Aztec is user name on computer. When I looked at the attribute it points to th elocation I saved the game to? Not sure if that needs to be addressed or not?

Confirm

Yeah, I just played with it, and the same thing happened here when I saved a game.

Unfortunately, re-opening the saved game started the same set of tiles at the beginning, not as of the partly completed in-play game.

If this is a flaw in the game, then poop on it. There's hundreds of Mahjonng games available, especially ones that don't take THREE clicks to remove two tiles. Oh and ones that have simple sounds (click, swipe, oops).

Recent files

Odd that it adds its savegames to recent files. I don't get those on WinXP, you use Win7 I suppose. I could try to adress that but cannot test it myself. On the other hand, LibreOffice does the same. It leaves links to its last files in the users filoe history (User\Recent).

My only solution would be to erase all *.ssm.lnk from these locations but that could inferfere with any other program also using that suffix (a quick google search pointed to realplayer using it too).

Saving seems rather pointless as Solitaire Mahjong only saves the current tile setup but not the game progress :(.
