could you do something so when you exit vlc and open it up again the settings are not lost?

VLC Itself

VLC only remembers certain settings between sessions. So, so does the portable one. If you want stuff like skin settings remembered, manually edit your config files... or file an enhancement request with the VLC team.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
