Hello All,
Can any application be run within PortableApps or is it to be used only for programs that are already portable?
The program I would like to run w/n PortableApps is Real Studio (www.realsoftware.com). But to the best of my knowledge they do not have a portable version of their application.
Thanks,
Craig
I am not sure what exactly you are asking.
If a program like let say outlook is not portable, why you should try to run it from portable apps menu if this is what you are asking.
You have nice menu on your windows already and such program needs to be installed on your computer and can not be installed on your portable drive as usb stick as it would not run on other computers at all.
So real studio is a program which needs to be installed on your computer. So why don’t you run it from the menu of your computer?

Otto,
Thanks for replying.
I ask because it is not practical or in some cases legal to install an application on every computer I may sit down in front of. Hence my question.
If PortableApps only works with portable apps then great. But if *some* applications that are not necessarily portable can be made portable, then that is even better!
Does that make sense?
Thanks.
Craig
For legal purposes you will often find that a license that restricts you from installing a program on multiple computers will also restrict you from running it on multiple computers regardless of installation status. Licenses are worded this way to also make it illegal to use an app virtualized with something like ThinApp.
As far as adding other apps to the menu though, this link will show you how to do it.
But just keep in mind that just because you copy an app to a removable device does nto mean it will work, properly or at all, from that device.
If you just wanna copy the folder with the binaries for Real Studio, then follow the instructions over here.
