Monthly releases

What ever happened to switching to a monthly release schedule? There hasn't been a platform update since 10.0.1.

Personally, I'm very grateful

Personally, I'm very grateful to have what we have. Considering that it is free, and all of the time consuming hard work involved, who am I (or anyone else) to ask for more?

Agreed!

I couldn't agree with you more! PortableApps.com has done so much, and I am thoroughly grateful for the time and effort that John and Co. have put into this amazing product. I am excited to see where it will go in the future.

However I do think that a user of a product, whether free or otherwise, should be shown the courtesy of an occasional update. Whether this is in the form of an actual software update or a simple post outlining where development stands. Especially in this case where it was clearly stated at the beginning of December that monthly updates were starting.

Next Steps: 10.1, 11.0 and Beyond

We're already working on the next release of the PortableApps.com Platform and switching to our new monthly release cycle. If you'd like to automatically help test the next beta, just turn on Beta channel releases on the Advanced tab in your platform Options window.

Although it would be nice to have someone in the know respond to this thread, I wouldn't hold your breath. I too posted a polite request for a simple update about 4 weeks ago, with no response what-so-ever. However in my frustration at the lack of response, I deleted the post. Which in retrospect was a stupid thing to do.

Anyway, if anyone who knows what happened to the monthly updates or even knows of issues that are standing in the way of the next release. A response in some way would be greatly appreciated.

Once again thank you to all the devs who have made my daily life easier through this product.

It amazes me that on the internet you can be anything you want, and yet so many people still choose to be idiots.

When There's Time

If you hadn't seen, there have been a slew of app updates to get through as well as additional fixes for the site. Couple that with the two full hack attempts that had to be thwarted, cleaned up and analyzed both of which consumed far more time than would be guessed from the explanations I put up. The app updates have gotten worse as we've had a few app maintainers either leave or not update their apps, which means I had to. Just browse through here to see what's up: https://portableapps.com/news

In short, monthly updates are a goal, not a guarantee. Give me more maintainers and FAR more donations so I can pay someone to maintain the site and then we'll talk about making it a guarantee.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thank you! :-)

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I do appreciate it, and I'm sure others do as well. I apologize if my post came off as a demand that more be done. It was intended as more of a request for the kind of info that was given in your reply.

I have been very much aware that there have been many app updates, and it has been great! What I was not aware of was the shrinking pool of devs or the site hacks.

The updates I have seen from you in the past have been very detailed, and I'm sure took some time to properly formulate and format. While this is great, I don't think it is strictly necessary. Maybe more frequent simple updates, such as the one in your reply to this thread, would help to inform everyone of the current status. Most of the posts I have seen in the past that complain/criticize about release delays and the like, would likely have not been made, had there been more transparency on current status.

Once again thanks for the time and work you put into this project, so that others like myself can freely benefit from it!
