How does works update system?

Unless a developer has specific reasons to hold onto folders all get deleted except for what is located in the Data folder. However there are many variations to this depending on the software and way it is packaged.

in fact you can watch it when you updates, it removes old not needed or wanted files, places new files, but prevents all files with settings and personal data and changes as extensions etc.being changed or removed.
