Introducing the PortableApps.com Search for the Google Chrome. This neat little extension let's you search the forums for instantly from the search bar. Plus, it gives you quick access to the latest news and posts from PortableApps.com, as well as a link to Start.PortableApps.com, an alternative to Google's search.
Check out a screenshot of the latest build.
And download PortableApps.com Search 1.0.1.11.
(You'll need to have a copy of Google Chrome [Portable] in order to use this).
Enjoy!
This was build using the Chrome Extension Creator.
I like the idea of this. I think it would make sense to have a release of it for folks to use with Chrome officially once the new branding is in place.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
It doesn't seem to me that it's doing anything other than providing a new way of searching, which Chrome already has in its main address bar (whatever they call it), and some links, which would be better as bookmarks, and a message to search before posting, which we already have and many people still ignore. Why not do it in those native way?

But the key feature is the PortableApps.com site search, not google (the screenshot had "Please search before posting as the text in the input box to search). The first bar you see is an entry thingy that you can type and then search PA.c, without having to visit the site first (the screenshot had "Please search before posting as the text in the input box to search). It also advertises start.portableapps.com, to help out here as well.
You just need to add it as a search provider, https://portableapps.com/search/node/%s - see, for example, http://www.chromeplugins.org/tips-tricks/custom-search-engines-in-google.... (Procedure is very similar in Firefox, only difference is it's implemented separately from bookmarks in Chrome, in its UI at least (I don't use Chrome so I don't know how it's implemented internally).

Maybe, in the future, we could add more features like e.g. a new post notifier.
