Our university has recently changed their internet access settings so that going via a proxy is no longer required. However I cannot find out how to prevent portableapps from always asking for a proxy username and password and consequently updating and getting more apps does not work anymore.
The problem is that I don't remember how I turned the proxy settings on, so I can't think how to turn them off again!
I have set "use no proxy" in both installed firefox, portable firefox, and installed internet explorer, but none of these seems to have any effect.
Any ideas of something else to try?

Previously I was accessing the internet using some sort of university VPN to bypass the proxy and this was the situation that portableapps menu seemed to insist on continuing to use the old proxy login. Now I have had my MAC address registered for direct internet access there is no longer any problems.
