Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic Touch Portable app installation

I am trying to install PortableApps on my phone using the Droid Portable Apps Downloader. On the play store site the instructions are not clear to me on how to install and use the software.

I ended up putting PortableApps.com_Platform_Setup_1.6.1.exe on my SD card in my computer and installing it there. The problem is when I put it in my phone it won't open.

I know I must be doing this wrong... Can I get some more specific instructions?

Thanks

If this site is what you are

If this site is what you are talking about regarding the Android Portable Apps installer then you need to know a couple of things:

1) It is not supported or endorsed by PortableApps.com in any way, and as far as I know nobody here may even know about it until now.
2) It illegally uses PortableApps.com logos and other trademarked stuff.
3) The developers official website provides no way to contact them. Looks very dodgy to me. Wait, there is an email address, it is just not openly apparent. Still looks dodgy as far as I am concerned.
4) The instructions on the homepage I link to above say

This app is not a ‘magic way’ of running apps from PortableApps.com natively on your android device. This app only downloads the installer to your phone (or other Android device) so it can be installed on your Andriod Device. PortableApps.com will be hosted (stored) on your device only.

so there is no way to run them on your Droid, they are only stored there for you to run when you plug your phone into a Windows PC.

You may want to re-read

★ Turn your Android device into a PortableApps.com USB/Samba application host

THis allows you to store theapps not run them you would then use the android device as a usb device in Windows

Wow that seams like a waste

Wow that seams like a waste of space... I think I could simply install the portable app right to the sd card and run the app from the sd card when I plug the phone into the usb port couldn't I?

I was thinking I would be able to run the portable apps on the phone...

I guess I will be uninstalling that app then.

Unless some one can come up with a good use for it.

I was hoping to run FireFox portable on my phone. Oh well..

The only benefit of it from

The only benefit of it from the webpage is that it will sync files between certain Droid apps and PortableApps.

My recommendation though is to uninstall, and tell anyone you know who uses it to do the same.

Unfortunately Google Play does not provide a mechanism where users can report trademark offenses, that is up to John or someone who can officially speak on his behalf. We can, however, boycott the project and pass the word around.
