probably right

it may sound not nice , but when it says password or user is wrong then it probably is.

As we dont know what else you have been trying, it is difficult to help.
Give some more details.
What protocol pop or imap? What ports set? Does the network need any special settings? What is the name of the server?

Gmail doesn't accept User name & Password for downloading emails

Dear Sir or Madam:

Thanks for letting me use Tbird.

My Tbird 12.0.1 was working perfectly under Windows Vista Business until yesterday. BUT today,SUDDENLY,Gmail Server is denying my User Name & Password, which I have never changed, when trying to download emails from the Gmail Server.

I can log on directly to the Gmail Server by the same User Name & Password through Firefox. However, I need to download ASAP all incoming emails to the Tbird for organizational purpose. If I cannot do so, there's no reason to use Tbird.

PLEASE HELP ME ASAP! How cat it be resolved?

My Server Settings on the Tbird are as follows.

SERVER SETTINGS
Svr Type: POP Mail Server
Svr Name: pop.gmail.com
Part: 995
User Name: kenkamiya@gmail.com

SECURITY SETTINGS
Connection security: SSL/TLS
Authentication method: Normal Password

LOCAL DIRECOTRY (i.e., logical drive of the USB key)
E:\ThdBdPtb311_07k13T10g07&h02TNow\Data\profile\Mail\pop.gmail-3.com

Cordially,

P.S. Could you email me your solution?

in such case

go and set the port to 110 and switch off the ssl/tls

test

if not ok, delete the username password, then enter only user name, close TB and start it again and proceed to fetch mail.
enter password when asked

if all here works, then we have to troubleshoot the ssl part or see if the IMAP works.
