GIMP: "Photoshop Layout"

Can you guys please correct this? GIMP is not "Photoshop" and should not be labeled as such. It is single-window mode not "Photoshop Layout".
It's like saying PA.Com is a U2 Drive software(Or whatever that software that comes on certain drives is;), which it is not....
I am sure that more than just one GIMP enthusiast is a little perturbed at this.

Very Clear

As it clearly states that: "GIMP Photoshop Layout is an add-on for GIMP Portable (as well as standard GIMP on any operating system) that adjusts GIMP's standard dock/toolbox settings and sets GIMP to single window mode to more closely approximate the standard layout of Adobe Photoshop.", no one would think we were trying to say GIMP was Photoshop. The point of it is to adjust the toolboxes and docks to approximate the layout that Photoshop uses, thereby making GIMP easier for folks familiar with Photoshop to use.

In no way is it anywhere stated (or even implied) that this turns GIMP into Photoshop. So, realistically, nobody should be confused by that. The fact that we have made this add-on available for over 4 years and this is the only time anyone has ever voiced this concern would seem to confirm this.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Never saw this stressed on

Never saw this stressed on 2.6 at anytime. I was just trying to state that it is Not a "Photoshop based" anything. Yes it resembles it but any software these days resembles any other software. All I am saying is to maybe change the wording to something instead of "The *NEW* GIMP Portable Photoshop Layout," maybe word it "The *NEW* GIMP Portable Single-Window Layout" then going and explaining that it is made for Photoshop users to feel more comfortable etc. I am not trying to make it sound like an attack or anything. I just kinda feel that it has kinda diminished the value of GIMP being its own software, not a Photoshop imitator.

SCRATCH THIS OUT, I didn't realize this was the plug-in. Sorry about this, I thought you were calling Single-window mode something else.

Ah Ok

Yeah, it's never been majorly about single-window mode. It's about reorganizing the actual GIMP layout to resemble Photoshop. We used to also make available a GIMP background window plugin (in addition to this GIMP Photoshop Layout add-on) which approximates the new GIMP's single window mode. As that is now built in to 2.8, we have retired that plugin (and actively remove it as it causes issues). The GIMP Photoshop Layout is still available, but I figured, as an improvement, when a user installs it into GIMP Portable, we'd activate single window mode for them as well just as a courtesy for someone who didn't know where it was. It's not really meant as a major component, just an additional 'oh, that's handy' thing to make GIMP even more comfortable for Photoshop users. The end-goal, of course, is to get even more people using and enjoying GIMP the way we all do.

Meh.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a more avid GIMP user than me, but I'm not too concerned with this. It really doesn't change the layout of GIMP all that much, so I think it serves more as a psychological crutch for people making the transition from P*******p to GIMP.
I did find a value in it for myself; seeing those tweaks inspired me to do more of my own toolbar customizations.

I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
