In the current package (AbiWord Portable 2.8.6 Rev 2), AbiWordPortable.ini contains:
[AbiWordPortable]
AbiWordDirectory=App\AbiSuite2\AbiWord\bin
SettingsDirectory=Data\settings
SettingsFile=AbiWord.profile
AbiWordExecutable=abiword.exe
...
If you (like me) install and just go about copying AbiWordPortable.ini to the "top" (for instance, to change it into running from a CD/DVD - which btw AbiWord doesn't need):
\PortableApps\AbiWordPortable\
AbiWord will stop launching!
This is because AbiWordPortable.ini references (in line #2) the base executable incorrectly.
That 2nd line will work thus:
AbiWordDirectory=App\AbiWord\bin
Incidentally the following files:
\PortableApps\AbiWordPortable\Other\Source\AbiWordPortable.ini
\PortableApps\AbiWordPortable\Other\Source\Readme.txt
\PortableApps\AbiWordPortable\App\DefaultData\settings\AbiWord.profile
make reference to this path:
App\AbiSuite2\AbiWord\bin
Best Regards,
Nuno
The INI is just an example and is never meant to be used directly. You don't even need all the entries in it, just the ones you want to change. And if you're looking to disable the splash, the easiest thing to do is just tick the box in the PortableApps.com Platform's advanced options which disables all the splashes with no muss, no fuss.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
