Getting the most recent version of Flash..

Downloaded Firefox Portable 13.0.1.. is there a way to get the newest version of Flash to work with it? I did a search here and came up with some old posts from 2008.

A lot of websites don't work with Flash 10 anymore.. I can't even check my lottery numbers unless I upgrade Flash.

Do this:

1) Update flash on your computer.
2) Go to: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\
3) Copy NPSWF32_11_2_202_235.dll or NPSWF32.dll
4) Go to: ?:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins (plug-in directory FF portable)
5) Paste the NPSWF dll.

Cheers.

This method always worked for

This works with some addendums.
The needed files from either:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

Thanks or?

First off thanks for the addendum. It does lead to some questions on my part though.

1) I have only the NPSWF dll in my firefox data/plugins and it works like a charm. I was under the impression that the FlashUtil32 plugin is for Internet Explorer.
2) Furthermore why would you need to change a file on the host pc (you mentioned mms.cfg) when we are talking about portable apps? This means you would have to change the file on each host pc you use FF on.
3) Why turn off the flash protected mode (on the host pc)? What does it inhibit?

adobe flash isn't a portable application .... you can copy over a dll to make it work as a plugin but that I believe is breaking some kind of licence so would have to be done by end user

flashutil

yes all works without flashutil, only the dll is needed. The rest for automatic updates, simply to call home etc.

Thus

Thanks for the confirmation. Can I therefore conclude that my initial how-to was correct?
