The latest update of GPodder Portable will not run from any main drive on a PC. My PortableApps Suite is located in my C Drive in my Program Files Folder and has been there without incident since installation. Only GPodder Portable now doesn't play nice with it's "home" on that particular system. The only device I could successfully run it from was an external flash drive. I tend to lose flash drives so this doesn't work for me for everyday use. I'm not up-to-speed on all the coding in the GPodder project. Does anyone know a particular location (file) where I could patch this issue with code? (I'm familiar with Python)
Program Files is not a supported location anymore for portable apps to be installed in, and we are in the process of updating the apps to disallow running from there as well. See here for details: https://portableapps.com/support/portable_app#installing
We reccommend installing to C:\PortableApps instead.
Program Files should not be used for portable software. It has issues by default on Vista and Win7. Even with UAC disabled or on WinXP, several apps will switch to local mode when in Program Files. So, the current pa.c installer and launcher will show an error at that location.
You can create a directory at C:\PortableApps and move all your portable apps there and they will continue to work.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
We were unaware there was an update available. In the future please post update requests here: https://portableapps.com/node/19705
