GnuCash not saving settings

Hi all,

I have noticed that GnuCash doesn't seem to be saving any of my settings. Pops up the new user screen every time it runs, shows the same tip of the day every time, asks me every time if I want to auto-save, even though I told it not to ask me (through both the dialog and the settings), prompts me every time to record every time I switch records, even after I told it not to.

I suspected it wasn't saving my settings, so I looked in my settings.ini file, and it looks to me to be default.

[GnuCashPortableSettings]
LastDrive=I:
LastDirectory=\!Portables\GnuCashPortable
Language=en

Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64
GnuCash v2.4.10

How do I fix this? If I knew how the settings were entered into the ini file, I could type them in manually to get it to work, but I'm not sure where I would find that info.

Thanks!

Exclamation

Is that exclamation point in the path? If so that would likely be the cause. Some apps have issues with things like exclamation points, dollar signs, etc.

Good to hear

Good to hear it's working now. At some point, we should probably take inventory of what apps have issues with what characters. Until then, it's generally best to stick to ASCII letters, numbers and regular separators like spaces, periods, dashes, underscores, etc. So far, I've seen some apps have issues with dollar signs and exclamation points. I think one might have had an issue with an ampersand, but I can't recall.
