Can't Install on Flash Drive

I bought one of the pre-installed flash drives and as soon as I inserted it into my desktop it asked to update the platform which I said yes. Then it stalled during the install giving me error "Extract: error writing to file PortableAppsPlatform.exe." If I click ignore it gives me another error for the next file it is trying to install. I eventually gave up and reformatted the flash drive. Same thing happened when I try to install the platform again. So I tried it with a different drive- got same problems. The platform will install on my desktop as will the apps. I am running Windows 7 and Norton.
