Can't change language in qBittorrent Portable 2.9.11

I downloaded, installed and started qBittorrent Portable 2.9.11. I opened the Options dialogue, changed the language to Russian, clicked Apply button, and closed the dialogue.

I saw that only the column headings and elements in the sidebar changed into Russian. I closed the program and re-started it. The interface remained in English and language settings were not saved.

Could anybody help?

Restart Required

A restart of qBittorrent is required for all parts of the UI (like menus) to change to a new language. I was able to open, switch to Russian, close and then reopen qBittorrent Portable and everything was in Russian. Are you using it with the PortableApps.com Platform? In that case, it will automatically switch to whatever language you have the platform set to.

Re-read my post

The second sentence in the second paragraph clearly states: "I closed the program and re-started it."

And I installed the program on my hard drive.

May the FOSS be with you!

I have made an experiment

1) I removed version 2.9.11
2) I downloaded and installed version 2.9.2
3) I started version 2.9.2 and changed the language to Russian
4) I closed version 2.9.2 and when I re-started it, everything was in Russian
5) I installed version 2.9.11 over version 2.9.2 and when I opened the program, the GUI was back in English
6) I changed the language to Russian again and closed the program
7) When I re-started the program, everything was in English!

I can come to the single possible conclusion that there is a bug in version 2.9.11. Now I re-installed version 2.9.2.

May the FOSS be with you!

Platform

You still didn't answer if you are using the PortableApps.com Platform or not. And, as I said, I can close and re-open it in Russian without issue on my Windows 7 box. So something else may be up.

I installed it directly on my hard drive.

I don't install the platform on my hard drive. I made a folder on my hard drive and install several portable applications there.

Same problem since v2.9.7

Any language option you choose, not recorded. Upon restart, appears the default language [English]. But v2.9.2 worked perfectly.

Bug in the standalone version

As the member George Yves has stated clearly, the error occurs in the standalone version. In the platform the app works flawlessly. In the meantime I have found a solution and will offer them in about 2 hours.

During uninstalling of the app in the platform also occurs an error message (content of the message: Uninstalling of qBittorrent Portable not possible), although it is actually removed.

revised version qBittorrent Portable 2.9.11 Rev 2

I have revised the faulty version of qBittorrent Portable 2.9.11. This revised version now works correctly in both the platform as well as a standalone version. Here is the Downloadlink: qBittorrentPortable 2.9.11 Rev 2. Please test it and report your results.

I solved this language problem through the following Alterations in the file qBittorrentPortable.ini:

  1. Alteration of the section [FileWrite4]

    I changed the value of %PortableApps.comLocaleglibc% by the value %PAL:LanguageCustom%.

  2. Adding a new section

    In addition I have added a new section :

    [LanguageStrings]
    ar=ar_SA
    be=be_BY
    bg=bg_BG
    ca=ca_ES
    cs=cs_CZ
    da=da_DK
    de=de_DE
    el=el_GR
    en_US=en_US
    es=es_ES
    eu=eu_ES
    fi=fi_FI
    fr=fr_FR
    gl=gl_ES
    hr=hr_HR
    hu=hu_HU
    it=it_IT
    ja=ja_JP
    ko=ko_KR
    lt=lt_LT
    nb=nb_NO
    nl=nl_NL
    pl=pl_PL
    pt=pt_PT
    pt_BR=pt_BR
    ro=ro_MD
    ru=ru_RU
    sk=sk_SK
    sr_RS=sr_CS
    sv=sv_SE
    tr=tr_TR
    uk=uk_UA
    zh_CN=zh_CN
    zh_TW=zh_TW

    Only for 2 languages (hy_AM and ka_GE) I found no appropriate language variable value.

As I mentioned in my previous post, it's impossible to uninstall the app in the Platform as is usual. It's necessary, that I remove the folder qBittorrentPortable manually.
