PLEASE HELP

I like the idea of this software platform and would like to give it a try.. however, I am unable to install it to my 16GB USB 3.0 flash drive. I don't understand. It runs out of storage space. Yet you can buy 8GB pre-installed drive?? Very frustrating

The PortableApps platform can

The PortableApps platform can quite happily install to and run from drives with less than 1Gb of space, so a few questions/answers may help us figure out your problem:

  1. How much free space do you have on the drive? (Stupid question, I know, but I need to ask)
  2. Where did you buy the drive? (If you bought it via eBay or similar, sometimes you can get drives that are labelled as one size, but are actually a smaller size hacked to look like a larger size drive)
  3. Can you install the platform to C: then copy it the the USB drive? (Don't worry, it is all portable. Just install it to C: then copy the PortableApps folder and Start.exe to your USB drive, there may also be another file there but I can't remember the name of it right now)

What yout get when you install

Installing the PortableApps platform adds the following at the install location:
PortableApps (folder)
Documents (folder)
Start.exe
Autorun.inf.

If you are just going to install it to the hard drive, and then move it, you are probably better off installing it into a folder first so you don't have to hunt for these.

For example, make a folder "PA" in the root, and install the platform to C:\PA\
Then you can just copy the contents of PA.

The platform is only 6MB installed

If you look at the download page, it's only 6MB installed. Adding apps of course with take up more room, but this should fit even on the smallest flash drive if there's nothing else on it.

I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
