Your "PortableApps.com Platform Features" page for 10.1.2 says 'You can organize apps into folders automatically or create your own that work the way you think.'
I am running 10.1.2 (according to the platform help/about). I cannot find any evidence whatsoever that this is possible nor any documentation whatsoever about this feature except the claim on your 'features' page and a few queries about it from several years ago on the forums.
Am I missing something obvious? How do you do this?
In the menu right-click an app. In the Category sub-menu you can select existing categories, or you can add new categories.
Please note that under Options->General you have to have selected an App List Organization mode that supports showing categories.
Thanks, that worked fine. It is not obvious though and there doesn't appear to be any doco for it. Is this on the way?
BTW I knew "folders" = "app category", just forgot to make that plain.
Suppose I want my 'custom folder/category' established when the application is 'installed'. How would I do that?
If I set the app.ini file to CATAGORY=ABC, PA.c puts it into 'Other' not 'ABC'.

Only supported categories can be listed in the appinfo.ini as those are the 10 supported by the app store, website and translated into dozens of languages in the platform. The PA.c Format Spec specifies that you have to use one of those in the appinfo.ini. As a user, you can switch it to a custom category of your choosing once it is installed.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
