How To Set Apps To Diff Install Directory?

Hello,

How do you get the PortableApps platform point the application install to a specific directory?

I got my portable apps installed at C:/PortProgs/ I don't want to install those apps and refresh settings all over again but I find the auto update over the Portable Apps platform really handy.

Thanks for any help.

PortableApps directory

You could just rename your PortProgs directory to PortableApps. All your PortableApps.com Format apps will continue working just as you want. And any non-PAF apps that are properly portable should keep working, too, though you may lose a minor setting or two. That's your best option.

Thanks for the quick help so

Thanks for the quick help so apps needs to be on PortableApps directory.

Is it safe to remove the document folder? I don't need it on the PA platform window. How to go about removing it?

So will updating leave the installer exe behind or it will just download the neccessary files?

Documents, Updater

Yes, they do need to be in a PortableApps directory (though said directory doesn't need to be in the root of the drive) and each app needs to be in the directory it installs as (FirefoxPortable, FileZillaPortable, etc). Then, the platform, located in PortableApps\PortableApps.com, can find and update them all properly.

You can delete the Documents directory if you don't use it. You can't yet remove it from the PA.c Menu or redirect where it goes. But you will be able to do both in an upcoming release.

The updater downloads the new installer, does an 'in-place upgrade' (aka installing the new version over the old one while preserving all your settings and plugins), and then deletes the installer. If you're keen on keeping installers around just in case, you'll be able to do that in an upcoming version, too.
