Hello,
Just a quick question.
I use Chrome portable often at work, from a USB stick.
If I install the portable version to my PC Hard drive,
would I still have the same benefits as running it from
the stick ( not leaving a 'trail' behind ) ?

It works the same from everywhere. You just can't install it within the Program Files directory.
