I know this has been asked before but all the search results were relatively old so here goes: Is there any way I can protect my passwords etc if I lose my usb drive or it gets stolen please? I'm thinking "No" so is the only option a usb drive that comes with encryption? Thank you!
If you keep your passwords in Firefox, set a master password. Then all your passwords are encrypted. If you keep them in KeePass, they're already encrypted.
You can use whole-drive software encryption (TrueCrypt, FreeOTFE), but then you will only be able to use it on PCs you have admin rights on.
The only truly secure solution that works everywhere is a hardware encrypted drive.
We're working on a 'good enough' password solution for the PA.c Platform for a future release that can help hide your important file, though. No ETA yet.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks John!
I have found an interesting one that semi-bypasses the admin required restriction by using webdav shares (which appear to be mountable without admin access)
SecurStick (http://www.withopf.com/tools/securstick/) (Link at top to translate to english)
It only really works for documents, I can't get the apps to run directly from the webdav drive. I am not sure if this is an issue with webdav or limitations of securstick itself.
The great thing with this is the cross platform utilities to access files.
